July 3rd - The long and boring death`s road...

Road rage !
Road rage !

We left the hotel around 7.30pm.

Next town, will be Makhachkala. 580Km south along the Caspian Sea. Not Sure, we will do it today or stop for a night on the way...Lets see...

We made at night ! 9 hours later after few detours. Caspian Sea ! We still did not put any feet inside, so we made a detour to Lagan (village who looks close to the sea on the map). To reach the village, we had to do some off road (Grrrrr). Not too dramatic, we did the PAMIR, Come on! But from this bloody village, no way to access to the Sea (WDF). We were a bit pissed off and gazzzz again to catch up the main south road toward Makhachkala (probably the city name the most difficult to pronounce so far).

The road was LONG, STRAIGHT, BORING, FLAT and HOT. The only distraction is too avoid cows crossing the roads...Because we ride fast, its sometimes difficult to avoid and then this is what`s happened. A picture talks better than words !

Welcome to Dagestan ! First time we heard about this Republic but obviously we are riding on their roads. If you google it, you will read the following sentence : `Dagestan has been a scene of low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism since the 1990s`.

Ouuups, then we need to be more careful from now on...So we discreetly put our pepper spray gas in the pocket and went back on the road.

Dagestan police ambush
Dagestan police ambush

100Km before destination, Nicolas made a U- Turn where he should not and within a minute, we were surrounded by 2 police cars..shiiiiit

Anyway, paper control + video of Nico U-Turn on the policeman phone`s...Seems serious! After 15 min and some apologizes, they became more friendly when they realized they will not get any money from us. So we ended up the ambush by a friendly souvenir picture and a final shake hands...

The night was coming, we stopped 20km before the city to have diner and give a quick shower to the bikes.

We had diner with locals and they were very cool...We took some pictures with them and they even wrote a sweet memo on Nico`s book. Great people !

Before leaving their place, the youngest of the family using google translation wrote me the following sentence : `In Dagestan, people can be bad. Be careful.`  heuuuuu ok good to know.

ps : i did not killed the cow ;)
