July 2nd - Astrakhan day off

Finally we stayed one more day in Astrakhan. We heard there are few things to see, so as Russia will be a shortcut in our trip, lets spend one more day. We also decided to do our maintenance in Turkey as they do not have stuffs we are looking for (types + oil). So we went downtown and see what Astrakhan has to offer to us and we were not disappointed ! 

We took a walk and went straight to visit the Kremlin (you cannot come here not seeing the Kremlin, locals said).The construction of Astrakhan Kremlin began, when the capital of Russia – Moscow was strengthened by stone walls and towers. Astrakhan was the second town where was built the Kremlin. Inside you will find a beautiful Cathedral as you can see from the pics.

 Later in the afternoon, we went for a cruise on the Volga River for an hour. Drinking beer with a sunset on a Russian boat was something we must do ! So its done !

The Volga Delta where is situated Astrakhan is the largest in Europe. The water is very rich in surgeons, carps and catfish, also a rich fauna. You can access to the wetland by boat but it takes few days and unfortunately we feel better on asphalt than water so we gave up the idea.

 On the way back to the hotel, we met local bikers gang, Yamaha R1, Kawasaki Gsx-R, Suzuki and Honda Goldwin...Young crowds are gathering along the river every night and showcase their Moto, Lada, or anything else on wheels...It was very funny to see that ! Loud music, beer or vodka and Shisha.

No doubt, Astrakhan is a lovely city !!
